Adults

Sunday School classes for adults are held at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. They operate on a quarterly basis ( September-November; December-February; March-May; June-August). We generally have 2-3 separate classes for adults at any one time. Usually, at least one class is devoted to a study of a portion of Scripture. Other topically-oriented classes are also offered.

Trinity has a core curriculum of eight courses. We desire that all people connected with our church work their way through this curriculum over a period of time. Generally, one of these core courses is offered during every Sunday School quarter. Some of the courses are better carried out in small group settings that meet during the week. Here is an overview of these core courses, which we call, “Foundations for Effective Christian Living.”

Lower-Level Courses

“Christianity Explored”

This is a ten-week course that introduces people to Jesus Christ through a study of Mark’s Gospel. Three questions are addressed that cut to the heart of Christianity: Who is Jesus? Why did he come? What does it mean to follow him? While this course is especially designed to help unbelievers and seekers come to know Christ, even seasoned believers will benefit from it. They will have a better understanding of the gospel and will experience a way to effectively share their faith with others.

“Discipleship Explored”

This is an eight-week journey into the book of Philippians. Course participants explore for themselves the meaning of Paul’s amazing words: “For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” This course is ideal for new Christians who have just completed “Christianity Explored,” or anyone who wants to make the most of their Christian lives.

“Understanding the Bible”

This course aims to help people understand the overall flow of Scripture and how its parts fit together. Learning to profitably read and study the Bible for yourself is also a goal.

Mid-Level Courses

“How People Change”

This course delves into the truth of the gospel and applies it to the messiness of living in a fallen world. Participants are challenged-and moved-by the wonderful hope that the gospel can change anyone.

“Developing a Biblical Worldview”

This course addresses the need for developing a “Christian mind” as believers relate to the currents of thought about them. Participants also consider how their life callings fit with a biblical view of culture. And they explore ways of functioning as “salt” and “light” (Mt. 5) in today’s world.

“Understanding What Our Church Teaches”

This course centers on the basics of Christian doctrine. As a church we don’t want to be sectarian, but it’s still important that people in Trinity have a good understanding of certain distinctives a PCA church has as well as of the foundational doctrines shared with other churches. How basic doctrines relate to the “realities of life” will be considered.

Upper-Level Courses

“Helping Others Change”

This course builds on “How People Change.” It is designed to equip believers in becoming better instruments of change to help others. Since loving others in need is often challenging, this course points to how to apply the gospel in difficult situations.

“Biblical Principles of Servant-Leadership”

This course directs people to more fully grasp what’s involved in growing in Christian leadership. What does it mean to be a good servant-leader in the spheres God places us-work, home, church, etc.?
